Art Liberated

My 2013 Liberate Your Art Postcards

I have been broken hearted since leaving my home in Utah a year ago this month...and I believe people come in and out of our lives for a reason. Kat Sloma and her Liberate Your Art project could not have come to me at a better time. I love having a plan, a goal, something to look forward to and this was the perfect event. I spent sometime sorting through images I had already created and chose some for printing. The simple act of participating or belonging to a group, lifted me from my doldrums and I'll continue to...make this place my home.

I am grateful for the six lovely people whose works of art landed at my door here in Roanoke, Texas. Words cannot express the joy I felt as each one arrived.

Without further adieu, here are the postcards that graced my life:

Thank you Maria Chiesa!

The quote reads:  Art is much less important than life, but what a poor life without it. ~ Robert Motherwell
Maria's photography is beautiful and I'm now following her on Flickr. You can find more of her work on Flickr...echie52!

Thank you Karen Walker!

Karen wrote: When you stand alone, you realize what you have in you. ~ Unknown
I am constantly reminding myself of this quote. Karen's photography is wonderful, but you should see her cards! You can find Karen at kbwalkerblogs.com.

Thank you Andrea Hayes!

Andrea sent one of my favorite quotes: In the end, it is not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away. ~ Shing Xiong
Stop by to visit Andrea at her blog...scrappinshutterbug.blogspot.com.

Thank you Katie Cisek!

Katie sent this beautiful photo of the Blue Girl from her art journal. Her blog is filled with beautiful creativity and art. She says there are no "normal" pictures of her, but from what I've seen...who needs to be normal! See her work at theredtin.blogspot.com

Thank you Jo Urbani!
Another quote I carry with me: Let the world know you as you are, not as you think you should be.
~ Fanny Brice   I tried to take pictures of the postcards in places they might feel at home here in Texas. I think this was the most successful. That fence may be original to Roanoke! You can find Jo's wonderful blog at fiddlesnips.blogspot.com.

Thank you Kat Sloma

A message for Kat ~ Thank you for sharing your time and talent in Liberating Art around the world. Your kind efforts have a made a difference in my life and your art inspires me. I am eternally grateful!

Things I learned:

Next time, I would create images/art specifically for the postcard swap that might convey a message and I would include my email address.

One more thing...the five images I liberated into the world...if you've seen them, please let me know.

  6. I did see one of your images while blog hopping this morning - the last one of the fence. I'm sorry I don't remember where I saw it, but it struck me because it's very similar to one of my own that's presently the cover photo on my Facebook page. I think your photography is beautiful. It sounds like we have something else in common: I too moved a year ago from a place I loved to a place I'm where I'm trying to find my place. I'm glad the swap gave you a lift.

  28. Suzette, your photography is beautiful! I think I came across the top middle and right ones in the blog hop somewhere... hope you found them :-) It's hard to leave somewhere you love (I've moved around quite a lot...), channel your feelings into your photography and over time you'll start to find things that you love in your new home, Good Luck and keep clicking that shutter!
