Mission San José y San Miguel de Aguayo
Oh! If only I could see like Ansel Adams or Georgia O'Keeffe when photographing behemoth structures such as this. If I could have the eyes of Brenda Gottsabend, a friend, who sees architecture and light in ways I could never dream of, but...this is my attempt to capture the light and form of Mission San José on one morning in February. I spent hours wandering in and out dark spaces and found quiet courtyards to sit in...to enjoy the warming sunlight and gentle breeze.
You have your own set of gifts and you have expressed them beautifully in this shot....

DeleteSuzette - while I greatly appreciate the shout-out, you have a compositional eye that I deeply admire. I love the way you have captured the dome and all those angles that support it, adding in the shadows for extra interest. I am often stumped by the "big" view - I have difficulty when there is too much in the frame - the missions are a challenge in that respect for sure. I have so enjoyed seeing your take on these lovely structures - seeing familiar views through your lens.

I do think that I put too much in the frame sometimes, but because I do it most often...maybe I should embrace it and make it my point of view. I do thank you for your comment! Take care!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comment. I really appreciate it. I love the California missions. Growing up I lived by the San Fernando Mission and spent a lot of time there. The missions in San Antonio are so different from one another and they're only a few miles apart. It's just amazing!
