In the Garden
While at the Dallas Arboretum on an Artist's Date, I took photographs of many flowers. I used this one to practice using the Painted Textures by Melissa Gallo I recently purchased. I'll keep practicing as I want to try these heavier textures on landscapes...we'll see how it goes.
Well, your "practicing" looks like expertise from here. What I so admire about your texture work is that the texture is always obvious but in a way that enhances and transforms the underlying image - usually into something so wonderfully painterly - it becomes an integrated whole such that I can't imagine the image without your post-processing.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking that I may need to invest in a set of paid textures - I generally try to work with just the free ones that artists so graciously share. But then I am always blown away by your work. I suppose this is the texture version of photography gear-envy - I am assuming that if I just had "better" textures I could magically create images like yours. :)
Well, you are always so kind to take so much time to comment on my images. I'm participating in a Webinar this Friday to learn more about these particular textures...I'm a bit frustrated by them, but I'm confident I'll get better with practice. I'm really trying to find my way and be "okay" with what I create. There's a phrase I like to say that I got from something I read once and it is..."This is the best I can do today." meaning, with the skills I have today...this is the best I can do. Tomorrow, I may have new skills and again what I create on that day will be the best I can do on that day. For some reason, it gives me courage to post my images. (Maybe courage is too strong of a word, but you know what I mean.) :o)
DeleteAnyway, thank you for your support...I really do appreciate it.

You sure do have a way with textures Suzette! I adore this one and the yellow one a post ago is the essence of happy sunshine. Please keep creating these beauties.
