Liberate Your Art 2017

The end of another fun year swapping postcards. Thanks ladies for sharing your wondrous art with me...and sharing it with all those that handled your postcard on the way to my house.

My first postcard came from Julia Jacques. While driving the backroad to Utah County, I noticed this sign with pealing blue paint and thought it was a perfect place to show Julia where her art landed in Utah. It's a beautiful postcard.

My second postcard flew across the pond from England and made it all the way to Utah. Deb Keyworth is the artists name. One of my favorite things about the swap is the challenge to show where the postcard landed. These photos were taken at the shore of the Great Salt Lake. It's a fabulous desolate yet beautiful place. Thank you Deb for sharing your art.

My third postcard was sent by Kate Lehman. The lighthouse on her postcard had me looking for somewhere to photograph her postcard with a similar shape or something. There are no lighthouses in the desert. Back in the late 1800's this spot was a stagecoach waypoint. There's a spring nearby so it also became a small settlement that didn't last too long. Thank you Kate.

Next came the beautiful rooster postcard from Lisa Murphy. I've wanted to get photos of this old drill truck for along time and this was the perfect place to share Lisa's card. I love the quote on her postcard. "This is a wonderful day. I've never seen this one before." -Maya Angelou    Thanks Lisa...your postcard is beautiful.

Postcard number six was also perfect to be photographed at the old drill truck. I love old anything...so much history and feelings in old objects. Paula Bogdan quoted E. Erwitt. The quote says, "Photography is an art of observation. It has little to do with the things you see, and everything to do with the way you see them." Thank you Paula...I love your photo and your quote.

And finally...Kat's beautiful art arrived in my mailbox. Thank you Kat for all you do to bring us together year after year. See you next time!

    1. Thanks so much Sheila and thank you for sending my mom another postcard. If you sent one to Sara, thank you for that one too! Sara doesn't tell me when postcards arrive. She's pretty ill, but she got some great news today. One of her masses is on the outflow of her kidney and that one has substantially reduced in size. She is one happy camper today. It's been so good seeing you each year on the swap. I'll look forward to next year and we'll talk again.
